The Season of Creation is the annual Christian celebration to pray and respond together to the cry of Creation: the ecumenical family around the world unites to listen and care for our common home. The “Celebration” begins 1 September, the Feast of Creation, and ends 4 October, the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of ecology beloved by many Christian denominations.

We share information from the Dicastery for the Service of Integral Human Development:

Pope Francis' Message for the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation 2024, with the theme " Hope and Act with Creation," was released on June 27. The theme drew its inspiration from the Letter of St. Paul to the Romans (Rom 8:19-25). In his message, Pope Francis encourages "to live an incarnational faith, one that can enter into the suffering and hope-filled "flesh" of others; to join forces to help to rethink, "among other things, the question of human power, its meaning, and its limits; to extend harmony among humanity and to creation in the sense of responsibility for a humane and integral ecology, the path of salvation of our common home". With the assistance of the Holy Spirit seek to live "a life that becomes a song of love for God, for humanity, with and for creation, and that finds its fullness in holiness."

The presentation of Pope Francis' Message took place at the Holy See Press Office. The event featured contributions from Alessandra Smerilli FMA, Secretary of the Dicastery for the Promotion of Integral Human Development; Br. Daniel Rodriguez Blanco OFM, Director of the General Office for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) of the General Curia of the Friars Minor; Fr. Alberto Ravagnani, priest of the Diocese of Milan and collaborator of the Diocesan Youth Apostolate; and Maria Lia Zervino, member of the Council of the Laudato Si' Movement and of the Servidoras Association.
