Jardines de Tibhirine

An Interreligious Peace Center in Buenos Aires, Argentina

inspired by the lives of the Blessed Monks Martyrs of Tibhirine, Algeria

Jardines de Tibhirine Peace Center draws inspiration from the lives of the Blessed Monks Martyrs of Tibhirine, Algeria, Africa, a community of monks who lived in harmony with the Muslim people, embodying a message of interreligious closeness and fruitful coexistence between Christians and Muslims.

The martyred monks, Christian, Célestin, Bruno, Christopher, Paul, Luc, and Michel, exemplified their faith through dialogue and a commitment to helping those around them. They embraced simplicity, prayer, and the universal search for God as guiding principles in their mission.

As an open house of prayer, Jardines de Tibhirine Peace Center strives to emulate the same sense of community and silent, prayerful encounters. The center aims to foster fraternal encounters with individuals of diverse religions and beliefs, a place where Heaven and Earth come together, a place where the divine and the humane are deeply intertwined.

The ultimate vision of Jardines de Tibhirine is to see similar “gardens” of peace established globally. Gardens that would serve as spaces where people can come together, engage in interreligious dialogue, and cultivate a spirit of love for one another and peaceful coexistence.
